A father is asking for answers after his 5-year-old daughter was seriously injured in a big crash in the Mojave Desert last week.

Marcus Coleman says his daughter, Dalilah, was in a Toyota Corolla when a semi-truck driver hit them in a pile-up on Highway 395 in Adelanto, San Bernardino County, last Thursday.

Dalilah, who lives in Bakersfield, was traveling with Coleman’s wife’s ex-husband to Victorville when the crash happened just after midnight.

She was trapped in the back seat and had to be flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center. She suffered a broken leg, a fractured skull, and her brain was swollen so doctors had to remove part of her skull to relieve pressure.

“My daughter was stuck between the rear and front passenger seats, and the impact broke the front passenger seat,” said Coleman.

Luckily, Dalilah is expected to recover, according to her father.

Now, Coleman wants answers from investigators at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. He’s upset because he’s also a truck driver with nearly 20 years of experience, and he heard that the driver may have fallen asleep before the crash.

We contacted the sheriff’s department, but they haven’t provided any new information yet. They haven’t determined who caused the crash or if factors like drunk driving or speeding were involved.
