A 25-year-old man from Tehachapi was arrested by police for reckless driving in a retired police car from a Southern California agency that he had been using around the city for several months.
The Tehachapi Police Department had received multiple complaints about a police-style vehicle being driven recklessly in different parts of the city recently. On June 20, 2024, around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a report near TK’s Pizza and Burger King regarding the same vehicle.
Upon arrival at the Burger King parking lot on Tehachapi Boulevard, officers located the vehicle—a Crown Victoria, which appeared to be an old police car auctioned off by a Southern California police agency.
The Tehachapi police confirmed that this vehicle was the one involved in the reckless driving incidents reported in the area.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Colton Jorian of Tehachapi, was arrested at the scene. He was cited for reckless driving and for operating a car that looked like a police vehicle. Jorian was released after receiving the citation.
The vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days as part of the police action.
The Tehachapi Police Department expressed gratitude to community members for their assistance in resolving this ongoing problem.
