Two Teens Killed, Three Injured in Playa del Rey Car Crash

A serious car crash happened near LAX that killed two people and injured three others, according to police.

The crash took place just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Vista Del Mar and Imperial Highway, near Dockweiler State Beach in L.A.’s Playa del Rey neighborhood.

The victims were two teenage boys who went to a school in the Inglewood Unified School District.

Video from the scene, taken by Sky5, shows many emergency crews responding. Another angle shows a badly damaged white Tesla next to a blue vehicle that is also severely damaged.

Two of the victims were declared dead at the scene, as confirmed by the Los Angeles Police Department to KTLA. The other three victims were reported to be in critical or fair condition.

Although the names of the victims were not released, the Los Angeles Fire Department described four of them as an 18-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman, a 16-year-old boy, and a 30-year-old woman.

The Inglewood Unified School District released a statement about the teens’ deaths, saying:

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of two Inglewood Unified School District students, as a result of a fatal car accident that occurred on June 4, 2024. The District is providing counseling support to our school communities during this difficult time. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families impacted by this profound loss.”
