An eight-year-old girl died while on a SkyWest Airlines flight to Chicago. Her name was Sydney Weston, and she was from Carl Junction, Missouri. She was traveling with her family from Joplin when she suddenly got very sick. The plane had to make an emergency landing in Peoria, Illinois, so that Sydney could get help.
The flight crew and medical staff on the plane tried to help Sydney as fast as they could. When the plane landed in Peoria, they continued trying to save her life. But sadly, Sydney wasn’t breathing and didn’t have a pulse when they landed. They rushed her to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts, she passed away.
The plane was supposed to go to Chicago but had to land in Peoria instead. It landed just over an hour after taking off. The airline, SkyWest, said they’re grateful for their crew who tried to help Sydney and for the medical staff who met the plane in Peoria.
Sydney’s autopsy will happen soon, and we’ll know more after that. The community is coming together to support Sydney’s family during this difficult time by organizing meals for them.
This sad event happened shortly after another person died on a different flight. Raiznal Farzad Khalik, 41, had a medical emergency while flying with Fiji Airways from Fiji to San Francisco. He was pronounced dead when the plane landed.
