Rochester Evening Shooting Leaves One Dead and Six Injured at Large Gathering

One person is dead and at least six others are injured after a shooting at a large gathering in Rochester, New York, on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred at Maplewood Park around 6:20 p.m. Police Captain Greg Bello reported that officers responded to the scene following reports of gunfire during the event.

Upon arrival, authorities found multiple individuals had been shot. According to Bello, one person has died, and six others are receiving treatment for gunshot wounds at local hospitals. At least one of the injured is in critical condition.

The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed, except that the person was an adult in their 20s. Police are working to notify the victim’s next of kin before releasing more information.

In response to the incident, several law enforcement agencies have been involved, including the Irondequoit Police, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Rochester Police, and New York State Police.

The investigation is ongoing as officials work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
