A Phoenix family is mourning the loss of a mother, Ta’Janae Carter, who was tragically killed in a shooting outside a club. Phoenix police reported that the 29-year-old woman was shot multiple times near 31st Avenue and Indian School Road early Saturday morning.
Carter’s sister, Shant Cunningham, fondly remembered her as someone with a big heart, known for her delicious cooking and hilarious jokes. Above all, Carter was devoted to her family and was described as a loving mother.
According to Cunningham, Carter was out with friends the night she was killed. An altercation occurred, leading to the tragic escalation of events.
Police stated that Teayanna Minter, 24, surrendered herself to authorities shortly after the shooting and is now facing charges of murder. Investigators are still determining the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Carter’s family emphasized that she and Minter were not acquainted. Despite the heartbreaking loss, they praised Carter’s strength and loving nature until the very end.
As they cope with their grief, Carter’s family hopes people will remember her infectious laughter and her talent for bringing joy to others.
“Everyone here loved her dearly. She was a person everyone could easily love,” Cunningham said.
