A person in Oakland, who is 77 years old and lives in a house, was put in jail after shooting and killing someone they believed was trying to rob them. But now, police sources say they will be let out of jail soon. They haven’t said exactly when. The district attorney’s office has two days to decide if they want to charge the homeowner with a crime. If they don’t, the homeowner can go home.
The district attorney might decide to charge the homeowner later, as they are still investigating what happened.
The homeowner was arrested for possibly committing murder after choosing not to talk to the police.
On the same day when three teenagers were killed in Oakland, there was another shooting in East Oakland. Police put tape around the area where it happened because they’re investigating.
On Monday, just before 6 p.m., at 98th Avenue and Burr Street in East Oakland, two men and a woman drove up to a house in a stolen car.
Someone who saw what happened told the police that the three people went onto the property, and one of the men had a crowbar. Then, they heard a gunshot.
When the police got there, they found the homeowner holding a gun at the woman.
The woman said the homeowner had shot her friend. The firefighters and paramedics tried to save the person who was shot, but they died. The person who died hasn’t been named.
The police also found another person, Jamon Fisher, who was 31 years old, with a fake gun. They arrested him for suspected robbery.
