A tragic motorcycle crash occurred in Stockton on Saturday night, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident happened just after 8:30 p.m. on Highway 99, south of Wilson Way.
The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old man riding a 2017 Harley Davidson, was traveling at an excessive speed of 80 mph in the left-most lane.
At the same time, a 43-year-old woman was driving a 2022 Toyota at 65 mph in the adjacent lane. She had two elderly passengers with her. According to CHP spokesperson Angel Arceo, the motorcyclist was driving recklessly and changed lanes to follow the Toyota closely.
The situation worsened when the motorcyclist abruptly braked, lost control of his bike, and collided with the rear of the Toyota. The impact caused the motorcycle to skid and crash onto the roadway, throwing the rider off the bike. The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His motorcycle came to a stop in the third lane of the highway.
The Toyota driver managed to pull over to the right shoulder. Thankfully, the driver and both passengers, all wearing seat belts, were unharmed. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The CHP suspects that alcohol might have been a factor in this tragic accident.
