A man from Missouri was executed for killing a woman and her husband, despite saying he didn’t do it.
David Hosier, 69, was put to death in prison by lethal injection. He asked the governor for mercy, but it was denied.
Hosier was found guilty in 2009 of killing Angela and Rodney Gilpin. Investigators said Angela and Hosier were having an affair, but she ended it. Hosier didn’t accept this and killed them, according to the court.
The governor said Hosier showed no regret for what he did. Hosier, though, insisted he was innocent and didn’t do the crime.
He didn’t like how his lawyers focused on his childhood instead of the crime when asking for mercy. Hosier’s father was killed when he was 16, but he didn’t want that brought up.
Prosecutors said Hosier broke into the couple’s home out of anger. Angela had asked for legal protection from Hosier before she died.
When police caught Hosier, they found weapons in his car. One of them was an old machine gun that was used in the killings, but tests couldn’t confirm this.
Hosier said he was just going for a drive and had his guns because he liked hunting. He said there was no evidence linking him to the crime scene.
“I know two people were killed. I know I got blamed for it,” he said.
