A family in Fort Worth is seeking answers after their loved one was killed in a shooting they believe was random.

Nevaeh Douglas, 18, wants to know why someone shot her father, 36-year-old Lee Douglas, who worked as an electrician at the Refrescos Beverages warehouse. He was shot during his overnight shift break in the warehouse parking lot.

Fort Worth police say the incident occurred on May 30 around 2:30 a.m. Lee was walking to his car when he was shot in the back and face. He was taken to the hospital but died from complications during his recovery.

Nevaeh described her father as a devoted family man. She was devastated when she learned about the shooting, just days after her graduation.

On May 31, police arrested 18-year-old Decan Mederios of Kettle Falls, Washington, who was charged with murder and several other charges.

Mederios’s family said he has no ties to North Texas and was only there for a layover at DFW Airport on the night of May 29. They filed a missing persons report and were shocked to learn about his charges.

The investigation is ongoing, and a GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to help cover Lee’s medical and funeral expenses. Nevaeh is seeking justice for her father.
