A 15-year-old girl from Manhattan died in a car crash in The Bronx. The accident happened on May 28 at around 12:09 p.m. at the intersection of West 192nd Street and University Avenue in the Fordham Manor area.
Police arrived at the scene and found an 18-year-old boy with minor injuries and the 15-year-old girl unconscious. She had injuries to her head and body. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene, and the boy was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he is in stable condition.
The initial investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad revealed that a 22-year-old man driving a Honda Pilot was heading north on University Avenue when he crashed into a moped. The moped, driven by the 18-year-old boy with the 15-year-old girl as a passenger, was traveling at a high speed in the same direction.
The driver of the Honda Pilot stayed at the scene and was not injured. The 18-year-old moped driver was arrested in connection with another investigation. The police are still investigating the collision.
The deceased victim has been identified as Dafney Juan from Manhattan.
