You, faithful reader of the Warrior Watch blog, may have noticed that no Pigskin Picks were posted the past two weeks. No, it wasn't a case of me taking my ball and going home because I am doing so poorly. Although, the latter part of that last sentence is certainly true.

The longshots I've picked the past few weeks in an effort to reclaim my throne as the champion pigskin prognosticator on this sports staff are not paying off as I had hoped. And so, in an effort to get back into the ballgame ... I have to pick more upsets.

For most of the day Friday, it looked like I was going to have to come up with a new headline for this blog entry - "Scott from the Press Box." Fortunately, Mother Nature came around a few hours before kick off, ensuring I would not have ink running everywhere on rain-drenched paper, and I could take up residence on the Smithville High sideline for its home opener against Lincoln Prep.

The opening week of Pigskin Picks was not so kind to the defending champ, as I stumbled out of the blocks with a 6-3 showing. That leaves me two games behind co-leaders Kevin Goodwin and Bill Knust, but there are again a handful of games in Week 2 that I'm confident will put me right back in the hunt.
