The Mid-America Youth Aviation Association, producer of the annual Kansas City Aviation Expo, has announced the cancellation of the 2010 Kansas City airshow. Scheduling conflicts with the major jet teams, including the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels, will prevent the airshow from featuring such performers, which is one of the largest draws for attendees. In addition, the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport will undergo scheduled construction on its runway, which will limit the length needed for the larger aircraft featured in the show. “While we’re disappointed there will not be an airshow in Kansas City this year, we have our eyes on 2011 and are already gearing up to make that a great show,” said Ed Noyallis, director of the Kansas City airshow. “Even though the show is cancelled this year, MAYAA’s mission is ever-present, and we hope Kansas City will continue to support us through events like the Youth Aviation Adventure Day.”
