Smithville City Administrator Gerry Vernon is one of three finalists for the city administrator position in McPherson, Kan., according to a city of McPherson press release that can be seen at http://www.mcpcity.com/?deptid=1&pageid=60.

Vernon said Wednesday, Sept. 9, that while he’s happy in Smithville, he is looking to move up. McPherson, in central Kansas, has a population of about 13,400.

McPherson officials hope to name a new city administrator by Nov. 1.

Vernon’s annual employment contract in Smithville will be up for renewal in November. Last year, the Smithville Board of Aldermen approved the renewal of his contract with a 4-2 vote.

It's too bad your joke of a Mayor does not have a fraction of the desire to serve Smitville's citizens that Gerry possesses.
