During the Smithville Board of Aldermen’s Tuesday, July 21, meeting, board members discussed the possibility of freezing employee wages and eliminating employee dental insurance coverage.
Also during the meeting, city officials announced a public hearing on the city’s property tax rate. At the beginning of the board’s 7 p.m. meeting at City Hall on Tuesday, Aug. 4, Smithville residents are welcome to give their opinions on a proposal to keep the property tax rate at 48 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. For the complete story, pick up the Wednesday, July 29, edition of The Smithville Herald.
