For details on sidewalk improvements planned along U.S. Highway 169 in Smithville, stop by Smithville City Hall’s council chambers, 107 W. Main St., between 4 and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 23.

The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to host an open house informational public meeting during this time. Transportation department representatives will present design plans for a sidewalk widening along Highway 169 between Missouri Highway 92 and Missouri Route KK. The department received stimulus funding for the project.

Those attending the open house can view the design plans, which include better pedestrian accommodations at intersections and increased mobility with better access. Open house attendees can discuss the project with transportation department representatives. No formal presentations will be made.

For more information on the project, visit the transportation department’s Web site at www.modot.mo.gov/kansascity.

Government waste
written by Phil Silvers, September 17, 2009
I guess we couldn't find a good use of 1.2 million dollars so we desided to replace a perectly good sidewalk with a new one at tax payer expense.
Thanks for watching out for us and being fiscally responable. You know what I am shopping outside of Smithville I don't even want to pay sales taxes here anymore.
As Glen Beck says if your up "for re-election" your out.
