The Smithville Planning Commission had a public hearing Thursday, July 2, about the revised sign code ordinance, but no one showed. The city received complaints after the Board of Aldermen passed the revised sign codes at the beginning of the year, and the Board placed a temporary moratorium on enforcement of the codes. The Planning Commission met in June to discuss revisions to the codes and hoped to get public input at the meeting before sending them to the Board of Aldermen for final approval. But business owners and community members may have a second chance to voice their concerns. The Commission voted to table its approval of the revised codes until August. For more information, pick up the Wednesday, July 15, edition of The Herald.
