Today, I heard from Chris Haerich, the mother of Hannah Haerich, a Smithville 10-year-old who was invited to a prestigious New York fine arts camp. Last month, I wrote a story about how Hannah was headed to the camp.

The camp, called Beginnings and run by talent scout Peter Sklar, is known for helping turn ordinary children into Hollywood stars.

The camp went well for Hannah, her mom said.

Hannah learned two Broadway dances, one from “Hairspray” and one from “Wild Party.” The dancers teaching her were actual dancers from the shows.
At the end of the camp, Hannah performed a solo dance. Sklar said Hannah’s performance was one of the best he had seen, Chris Haerich said.

The family isn’t sure where Hannah will go from here.

“At this point, we are not sure what will happen, but whatever happens, she
really enjoyed herself and learned so much,” Haerich wrote in an e-mail to me.

I’ll keep you posted on what happens next.
